Yoga therapy is the use of traditional yogic principles and practices–postures, breathing techniques, techniques of meditation and relaxation– to address specific physical and/or psychological imbalances.
As a holistic science, Yoga recognizes that the many dimensions of one’s being- body, thought, emotion, intuition, energy and higher consciousness- are interconnected and interacting at all times. When these are out of harmony with one another we experience symptoms such as physical or emotional stress, the manifestation of physical ailments or “dis-ease” (either chronic or acute) and other non-optimal conditions such as fatigue and depression.
Yoga therapy tailors the practices to meet the specific needs of the individual, to address his/her condition in order to bring about balance and wellness on all levels.
